Note: This feature is being rolled our gradually and may not be available for your account yet.

Introduction

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP) adds an extra layer of security to your QReserve account. When 2FA is enabled, you'll be required to enter a numeric code from an authenticator app in addition to your password. This code changes every 30 seconds, making it a secure way to verify your identity.

Requirements

QReserve's 2FA features are available only on accounts that use an email address and password to sign into QReserve. If you sign into QReserve through your company or school then you should check whether that account provides support for 2FA.

Step 1: Accessing 2FA Settings

  • Log in to your account: Sign in to your QReserve account using your email and password.
  • Navigate to your Profile: Click on the Profile menu item to access your account profile.
  • Select 'Account & Security': On your Profile page, find and click on the 'Account & Security' tab.

Step 2: Enabling TOTP 2FA

  • Enable 2FA: Inside the 'Profile' tab, you will find an option to 'Enable Time-Based Authentication'.
  • Follow the setup instructions: The system will guide you through the setup process, which involves scanning a QR code with your authenticator app. After the code is scanned, your authenticator app should offer a one-time use code six digits long. Once you enter this code, your TOTP device registration will be completed.

Step 3: Choosing an Authenticator App

You will need a TOTP authenticator app installed on your smartphone or tablet. Here are some popular options:

Step 4: Backup Recovery Code

  • Note Your Recovery Code: After completing registration, you will be provided with a one-time use recovery code. This code is crucial if you lose access to your authenticator app.
  • Store it securely: It's important to store this code in a safe place. It will allow you to access your account in case your device is lost or the authenticator app is inaccessible.

Removing a Time-Based Two-Factor Authentication

If you still have your authenticator application you can remove 2FA from your account from your Profile page. If your authenticator application is no longer accessible due to a lost device or other reason, please contact support for further assistance.

Conclusion

By setting up TOTP-based 2FA on your QReserve account, you significantly enhance the security of your data and identity. For any assistance or queries, please contact our support team.
